What many consider to be the best bonefishing in the world, Andros South Lodge offers it all. If you like wading pristine flats, casting to large schools of hungry bonefish , hiking in to remote creeks or stalking a pair of large bonefish on a sandy white flat, Andros South Lodge is your place. Anglers can expect shots at bonefish in the 2-4 pound range with double digit bonefish also around. The fishery is primarily bonefish with an occasional shot at tarpon. Lots of barracuda to play with as well. The guides are some of the best on the island and they fish out of 16’ Hells Bay skiffs.
The accommodations are clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Wi-Fi is also available. Each angler has his/her own room (yes, you heard that right!). Another unique thing is beer, wine and liquor are all included. If you want a specific type of liquor you’re best to bring it yourself. The food is outstanding with a mix of American dishes, fresh fish, lobster and conch.
Gather out at the wet bar right on the beach to enjoy a cocktail, relax and swap fishing stories from the day.

No! The fishery on the southern portion of Andros is extremely productive so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch fish even if you’ve never fished on the flats before. Your guide will also instruct you on how to improve your casting if needed.
RODS: Typically, most anglers bring an 8wt for bonefish, a 9wt for windy days and a 10wt for barracuda and the possibility of tarpon.
REELS: Any reel gets tested on bonefish because they love to run! A sturdy saltwater reel that must have a dependable drag system.
Andros South Lodge provides loaner rods and reels.
FLY LINES & LEADERS: A floating weight forward fly line works best for bonefish, barracuda and tarpon.
Bonefish leaders need to be at least 9ft long and taper to 12 or 16 pound test.
FLIES: You don’t need a bunch of flies. If you have gotchas, spawning shrimp patterns and mantis shrimp patterns you’ll be in great shape. Sizes 2-6 with 2-4 being the most popular. Andros bonefish like big flies!
CLOTHING: It’s important to cover most exposed skin. Long sleeve shirts and pants. A face covering like a buff will come in handy. Quick dry materials help as well. Sunglasses and a hat are a must as are saltwater wading boots.
